July 1

Dear Lady Golfers,

July, and you know what that means? One month closer to November!

I can’t possibly describe how fabulous the course is looking! Rumor has it the crews will start cleaning up the perimeter and trimming trees on the back nine in July, and I for one am very excited about that. I had ten trees at one time and I think I have 20 now! The roots have all sprouted and it looks like a jungle! It’s all good! The thrill of watching it come back to life has been worth the wait. I’m sure the crews all feel like heroes with all the residents waving and clapping for them.

We have a couple of new members. This months we welcome a former member that some of you will remember, Pam Watermen. And our other new member is another friend from Long Beach , CA, Vicki Fleming.

Welcome, Ladies! We look forward to playing golf with you and getting to know you both better.

Desert Dwellers, be sure to sign up for the 2nd Annual ‘Ms Hot Tamale,’ July 22 and 29 at Big Rock, lunch to follow at Tom and Sue Sweet’s house. For more information visit the website.

That’s all for now!

June 2024

Dear Lady Golfers,

It’s a beautiful day in the desert. We’ve had some wind and dust, but lately the weather has been great. Not a lot of patio entertaining at this time.

The course is looking amazing! Most of the greens around the fringe have been sodded and ‘sprigged’ for new growth. The perimeter on a few of the holes has been cleaned up and the edges around the lakes have been trimmed. There has been mention of a tour for the non-golfers when it is completed. I hope that happens, but alas, they didn’t put me in charge! I will be sending more photos of noteworthy changes.

Several of us traveled to San Jacinto to the Country Club at Soboba and stayed 1 night and enjoyed 2 rounds of golf. It was an amazing trip, of course, organized by Tina! She never fails to surprise and go the extra mile to make it special. Her organization and planning are something I aspire to!

The format was a partner best ball, Stableford, eclectic. She paid closest to the pin on the first day, and gross, net, and 1st, 2nd and 3rd for the overall eclectic. As I said, AMAZING!

An easy hour and 15-minute drive to a beautiful setting in the hills. The course was in great shape and user friendly, and the hotel was very nice! Some of us came back with more money than we arrived with. Congratulations to all the big winners!

It’s time to say goodbye to several of our Desert Dwellers who will be seeking cooler temps. We wish them safe travels, and remind them to be sure to post pictures so we can all enjoy your trip.

Before I sign off for another month, I’d like to give a shoutout to the ladies who are organizing the golf for  the summer; Rita, Denise, Helen, Tina and their backups (apologies if I missed anyone).

We are so grateful to have members like you who share with us your dedication and enthusiasm for the game by securing deals on green fees, making times, popping and printing score cards, putting the groups together, sending and resending emails, calculating the winnings, and sacrificing your own game to be sure everything is in place! Thank you!!

That’s all for now!

Fairways and greens!

May 2024

Dear Ladies Golfers,

It was so hard saying goodbye to our Bird friends this season. I guess because so many of us played at different courses. It made our tournaments and parties so much more important. Just another reason I’m looking so forward to next season. ‘TRILOGY FORWARD!’

Our weather has been in the 90s but, hopefully, we still have a few spring day before summer moves in. I am looking forward to the desert blooms.

I hope everyone read the most recent update from the board, dated April 26, with John Perry’s  interview of Gary Brawley, the course architect. He mentions adding another forward tee box and included an article from the USGA website. You can find it on the Trilogy website.

Many of us Desert Rats have vacations planned and others are getting away to  escape the heat. Safe travels to all!

That’s all for now!

Fairways and greens!
